Tender Description

The NBA’s core business is to deliver blood supply that is responsive to patients needs plus governance and policy about blood and blood products. The Information Technology Services section is responsible for the delivery and maintenance of the projects, business as usual support, infrastructure, security, and call center solutions which support the agencies vision statement.

The NBA is currently finalising our 2022-26 ICT strategy, we are looking for a Solution Architect who will be able to join our team and help us deliver key projects to modernise our systems and mobile apps. These systems are used by medical practitioners to manage patient treatments, orders, supply and governance of blood and blood products.

Our corporate environment is currently undergoing its own modernisation through a cloud migration including application, data and infrastructure projects.

The NBA deliver projects in line with the PRINCE2 project management methodology and Agile when delivering enhancements to our bespoke software, mobile apps and release development.

The NBA is looking for experienced Solution Architect to join the team. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute their experience and knowledge to conduct a full review and assessment of the agencies current IT architecture, documenting the current state for NBA’s core systems and projects and producing an architectural roadmap for the NBA’s future state technology which aligns to the ICT strategy.

This work will be challenging and highly rewarding as the projects in our team directly support the operation of an efficient blood sector in Australia. Desirable capability in enterprise architecture, as we are a small agency there may be instances where the successful candidate will be required to provide enterprise architecture documents and advise.

The role requires a Solution Architect who has the following experience and capabilities:

• Territory degree and/or equivalent experience of 5 years or more in computer science, Information systems or IT related solution delivery and architecture.
• The ability to provide strategic direction and drive the NBA’s ICT strategy and technology investments to build the future Solution architecture of the NBA.
• Ability to evaluate existing complex environments and develop a plan with options on how to approach transition to future state architecture.
• Responsible for the development and delivery of conceptual and detailed designs of technology solutions. This includes working with vendors and validating vendor architecture suitability and alignment to ICT strategic principles of the NBA.
• Working understanding of architecture frameworks and software development practices.
• Work with Business Analysts to ensure architectural requirements are accurate and achievable plus provide functionality, architectural, infrastructure, and integration assessments.
• Proven ability in evaluating technologies, capabilities and recommending solutions which meet business requirements. Including the ability to identify gaps in functionality and suggest and/or manage alternative approaches to address gaps.
• Prepare detailed documentation for example options papers and gap analysis and present to Senior Executives to gain approvals or decisions.
• Experience communicating complex technology information effectively and appropriately to Senior Executives and business stakeholders

The role will require a Baseline security clearance, candidates without a clearance will not be considered for the position.
