Tender Description

Lyttelton Port Company Limited (LPC) is seeking Supplier proposals from suitably qualified and experienced providers, of mechanical parts and consumables (“Goods”), who are either an incumbent Supplier, or have previously tendered for LPC, to join a Prequalification List. Suppliers who have not tendered for LPC business in the past are encouraged to prequalify for specific mechanical goods and consumables.

In order to simplify the procurement process, and to encourage ongoing improvement in both LPC’s and our Supplier’s performance, LPC is implementing a Prequalification and Performance Management System (Prequal System) for the provision of mechanical parts and consumables.

LPC extends an invitation to Supplier’s (“Candidates”), to apply to be included in the Prequal System. This application will be similar to the first step in a multi-step procurement process. Once approved, the next steps include:
1. The approved Supplier will provide discounted rates (with volume price breaks) for items commonly purchased by LPC; and
2. The approved Supplier will be appointed to the Prequalified Suppliers List for the supply of goods and consumables for LPC; and
3. A streamlined Request for Quotation (RfQ) process from approved Supplier’s, for uncommon items.

This Invitation to Qualify (ITQ) represents a unique opportunity to prequalify for the provision of mechanical parts and consumables to LPC, and introduces a mechanism for how the performance of Suppliers will be scored.

This Prequal list will be established for a period of three (3) years with one (1) + one (1) renewal options and will ensure value for money and improved innovation of the supply of mechanical parts and consumables.
