Buy and Sell Description:
VicForests was established by the Victorian Government in August 2004 under the State Owned Enterprises Act 1992 (Vic) as a statutory business corporation responsible for the sustainable harvest and sale of timber from State forests in Victoria.

VicForests engages independent contractors to undertake the harvesting and delivery of approximately 1.1 million cubic metres of hardwood logs to its customers. Road construction, improvement, and maintenance in State forests to access coupes and the collection of eucalypt seed for regeneration purposes is also undertaken through contracted businesses.

Occupational health and safety (OH&S) compliance is of critical importance to VicForests as timber harvesting, haulage and associated activities are a very high risk industry. VicForests puts in a significant amount of time and effort into ensuring that the safety of our contractors is our foremost priority. Improvements over the past 10 years by contractors has, in part, been driven by staff monitoring, and by auditing carried out by an external party in accordance with an agreed set of criteria.

VicForests is seeking an experienced and competent auditor to undertake field and desktop safety management system audits for harvest, haulage, road works, seed collection and other contactors engaged by VicForests. VicForests has determined that a competitive tender, at this time, is the most appropriate mechanism to establish ongoing commercial arrangements to deliver the audit of these business critical activities.
