Expressions of Interest from Western Australian Artists - Public Transport Operations Control Centre, East Perth
Tender ID: 501850
Tender Details
Tender Description
This Expression of Interest calls for artist teams to respond to a significant public art commission to design a Façade Artwork for the Public Transport Operations Control Centre (PTOCC), located in East Perth.
PTOCC is a PTA/METRONET project, providing a transport control facility that will meet the needs of Perth’s rail network expansion. ADCO Constructions have been engaged by PTA/METRONET to design and construct the facility and Artify is working with ADCO to plan and coordinate artworks.
Public art for PTOCC will provide a platform to interpret the cultural and historical significance of the site located on Whadjuk Noongar Boodjar, and reinforce the importance of the building as the ‘nerve centre’ of public transport networks across the city.
Artist and creative teams are invited to submit an Expression of Interest in response to the brief. Submissions will then be shortlisted to prepare a Concept Proposal.
Artwork Opportunity
The client and stakeholders wish to commission a prominent façade artwork on the east elevation of the new PTOCC building, a highly visible location for arriving and departing trains at East Perth Station and vehicle traffic along East Parade. Artists are invited to design 3D elements, such as laser cut or perforated panels and/or shallow relief sculptures fixed to the façade. The artwork may be complemented by sections of bespoke paint/murals and lighting to extend the overall scale and impact of the artwork.
Artist teams should demonstrate an authentic approach to the engagement and participation of one or more of the following interest groups who may form part of their creative team: First Nations artists, emerging artists, artists local to the area and/or creatives from other disciplines including (but not limited to) fine arts, graphic design, illustration, writing, poetry and/or music.
