Tender Description
Grampians Health Ballarat is undertaking a construction project to increase space for The Ballarat Regional Integrated Cancer Centre (BRICC) Wellness Centre and to provide a new Superficial Radiation Treatment Centre. In order to facilitate this the 1st floor is to have two rooms converted into consult rooms along with the creation and installation of a new reception desk outside the lifts.
BRICC Wellness Centre and SXRT Treatment Area
BRICC is a purpose-built cancer treatment ward run in partnership with the Austin Hospital. The building is 5 floors. The Basement contains power and data services, Ground floor houses the radiation treatment, offices and the wellness centre. On 1st floor is pharmacy, the day unit oncology unit and cancer consultation suites. 2nd floor is an office area for administration, 3rd floor is the medical consult suites whilst 4th floor houses administration and management staff.
The four main components of the works are as follows:
Reception Desk: 1st floor
A new reception desk is to be created, opposite the 1st floor lift. The desk will allow for greater service and a more efficient wayfinding functionality on the 1st floor of the building.
Consult Rooms: 1st floor
A waiting room and store room on the 1st floor are to be remodelled as consult rooms. These two repurposed spaces will allow for the rooms on ground floor to be reclaimed as a much-needed Wellness Space.
Wellness Centre: Ground Floor
With an increase in need for more facilities in the space, the area will be expanded east into two of the original consult rooms to create a family area. This will allow for a separate area to be utilised as a relaxation area for families with children.
SXRT: Ground Floor
The Austin Hospital Radiation Department will be installing a new superficial radiation treatment machine in the Wellness Area space and as such modifications are required to encompass this equipment. The two eastern-most consult rooms are to be reconfigured as a treatment and control room which will allow for local treatment of more varieties of cancers.
