The purpose of this call for Registrations of Interest (ROI) is to select a shortlist of Respondents who will be invited to submit a full proposal in response to a Request for Tender (RFT). The RFT is to select a preferred contractor (the Preferred Contractor) for the refurbishment of the existing Ward 22 Facility at Middlemore Hospital (the Project) with whom Te Whatu Ora – Counties Manukau may enter into a Main Construction Contract.

If successful during the RFT process, the Preferred Contractor would enter into a pre-agreed form of construction contract outlining an agreed price and detailed programme (amongst other things).

The construction contract will be based on NZS 3910:2013 with Te Whatu Ora – Counties Manukau’s special conditions (Construction Contract) and the draft contract will be disclosed as part of the RFT. It is intended that the works under the Construction Contract will be undertaken in a single stage.

The Project is to refurbish the existing Ward 22 building to achieve the following:

• Upgrade the current Ward 22 facility to meet the standard of care for dementia and acute mental health patients
• Provide spaces through learnings and consumer input that supports the care required i.e., access to courtyards, ability to separate sections of the ward as required, single rooms and ensuites, therapeutic spaces
• Construction of open plan areas to allow Koropiko clinical services to maintain observation of Ward 22 inpatients to ensure a safe environment

• Vacate ward 35 East for acute inpatient capacity
