Tender Description
The Government are consulting on the possibility of introducing the regulation of self-containment plumbing in motor homes and self-contained vehicles.
After consultation with Government and following initial approval of legislation in parliament, the Plumbers Gasfitters and Drainlayers Board (the "Board") will be required to take on the responsibility of the regulation and administration.
The law would require that the plumbing in self-contained vehicles meets either the requirements in the current voluntary standard NZS 5465:2001 which would become mandatory or any new technical requirements which will be included in regulations to be made under the Bill.
Legislation is targeted to be passed the first half of 2023 with a ‘launch’ in Quarter three 2023. The Board together with MBIE (Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment) have prepared high-level requirements that support the proposed initial legislation.
The Board is now seeking a technology partner to finalise the requirements and undertake the build, test, implementation and on-going support of a new self-contained vehicles register.
