Synergy is Western Australian largest electricity generator and retailer of electricity and gas with more than one million residential, business and industry customers
The Synergy Kwinana Rehabilitation Project (KRP) was established in 2015, for the purposes of undertaking the decommissioning and demolition of the old coal Kwinana Power Station (KPS). The project has progressed to date in so far as removal of all secondary infrastructure, and is now preparing for Phase 7 of demolition activities, which includes the safe removal of a portion of the infrastructure which includes:
a. Stage Coal Bunker C
b. Stage C Boiler K6
c. Stage C Boiler K5
d. Coal Bunker A
e. Stage A Boiler K1
f. Stage A Boiler K2
g. Turbine Hall -Stage A & C which includes Turbines and Generators
h. Turbine Hall-Stage B- which includes Turbines, Generator and Condenser
These items are centrally located within the small footprint of KPS, however are in close proximity to operational plant including the Kwinana Gas Turbines to the north, Cockburn Power Station to the south and the Western Power switchyards to the east, all of which will remain operational during these Works. Phase 6 demolition Stack removals will also be in progress at this time
