Scope of Work
Preparatory works
Before repairs can be completed, the Contractor is required to:
• Drain the dam for complete access to the dam faces.
• Surface cleaning and defect survey (as per the Repair Specification in Appendix B).
• Trial applications (as per the Repair Specification in Appendix B).
• Diagnosis of the scour valve to determine required course of action.
Remediation works
Remediation works will be required to improve the structural performance, operability, preservation, and safety of the
asset. This includes:
• Replacement of non-functioning scour valve elements (mechanical or otherwise).
• Repairs to concrete cracking by either crack injection or broken out and patch repaired to recreate continuity between the concrete and seal the defects from water ingress.
• Repairs to cracking within the brick piers by stitching with steel bars or replacement bricks where appropriate.
• Restoration of steel plates and straps by cleaning back and treating with a zinc rich product.
• Patch repairs where delamination has occurred.
• Application of a penetrative sealant on the concrete wall to ensure durability and protect the wall from water ingress and pollutants.
• Replacement of any corroded steel guardrail members to match existing.
