Audit and Risk Committee Independent Member.
The District Council of Elliston is calling for a suitably qualified and experienced Independent Member to join its Audit and Risk Committee for a four year term.
The objective of the Audit and Risk Committee is to provide independent assurance and advice to Council in the conduct of its responsibilities for the management of risk, financial management, reporting and audit initiatives, accounting, governance, the internal control system and the audit functions.
The Committee must meet at least once each quarter at appropriate times in the reporting and audit cycle and otherwise as required pursuant to Section 126 of the Local Government Act 1999, Regulation 17 of the Local Government (Financial Management) Regulations 2011 and the Committee’s Terms of Reference.
Expressions of interest are sought from people who want to be part of supporting the District Council of Elliston to achieve its full potential. Committee members must collectively have the skills, knowledge and experience relevant to the functions of the committee, including in financial management, risk management, and governance.
Successful applicants will have:
· A broad understanding of local government structures, operations and legislation;
· Skills and knowledge in financial management, business, governance, audit and/or risk management;
· Experience on audit or similar committees or boards.
· Excellent communication skills and ability to work constructively with other Members and management;
· Well-developed interpretive and analytical skills.
