Niche Environment and Heritage (Niche) has been commissioned by Illawarra Coal Holdings Pty Ltd (the Proponent) (South32 - Illawarra Metallurgical Coal) to conduct an Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Assessment (ACHA) for the proposed development of Dendrobium Area 3C, located at Cordeaux, NSW (Lot 14 DP 1233164). The ACHA will be undertaken to advise future planning of the development of Area 3C. A detailed survey program of areas with limited prior inspection is planned as part of the ACHA.

In accordance with Section 4.1.3 of the Aboriginal cultural heritage consultation requirements for proponents 2010 (ACHCRPs) (DECCW 2010), the Proponent is seeking to consult with any Aboriginal persons or groups who may hold cultural knowledge of, or who have the right or interest in the Aboriginal cultural heritage of the Subject Area. The purpose of the consultation will be to assist the Proponent in the preparation of:
• An ACHA report.
• Determining the significance of any Aboriginal objects andr places within the Subject Area.
• Appropriate management recommendations for any Aboriginal objects andr places that might be identified during the process.

Please be advised that, as per Section 4.1.6 of the ACHCRPs, the names of Aboriginal persons and groups who register an interest will be forwarded to Heritage NSW, the Tharawal Local Aboriginal Land Council (LALC) and the Illawarra LALC unless the person or group specifies that they do not want their details released.
