Barunga West Council is calling for Nharangga artists or designers to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to produce a design to be incorporated into a public art piece. This initial public art piece will be the first in a range of Nharangga art opportunities as outlined in the project brief.

Barunga West Council is redeveloping the Port Broughton Foreshore into a culturally rich, inclusive and interactive multi use community space. The project, known as “Civic Square”, will endeavour to redesign, renew and redevelop the space into a regional tourism attraction. The centrepiece will be the Yorke Peninsula’s first Nharangga Public Art installation. This project is partnered with the Nharangga Aboriginal Progress Association.

Barunga West Council is calling for Nharangga artists or designers to submit an EOI to produce a design to be incorporated into a public art piece.

This major public art installation will be the centrepiece of the redesigned Civic Square and future Tourism and Events Centre, acknowledging we are on Nharangga country.

Artists responding to this process will also be asked to quote for future projects such as murals on Council-owned buildings, entry signage to Nharangga country, recreational trail signage and art installations in public spaces.

Barunga West Council also is seeking EOI applications for other future art projects that may include murals, graphic design, entrance signage statements, language, walking trail art integration, sculptures and digital designs. If this first project does not suit your artistic style, we encourage you to still submit your artwork to be part of a database of Nharangga artists for future projects.
