Tender Description
The Werribee Mercy Hospital Emergency Department Expansion Project (“the Project”) will construct a new emergency department on the Werribee Mercy Hospital site with 67 points of care (representing an additional 34 points of care to the existing facility which will enable an additional 25,000 emergency department presentations per year by 2026-27).The Early Works package being released will feature the following scope of works:
Services Relocation Services relocations (fire protection services, sewer diversions, electrical diversions, water supply, mechanical and hydraulic services).
Cut in & extend water services pipework at high level to maintain operability of building to remain in this stage. Reconnect water supply to existing building.
Disconnect and remove redundant compressed air equipment and pipework to enable the demolition of the plant room.
Removal and/or capping of services
Installation of new 225mm sewer line along internal service road to service the main works project
Decant construction
Construction of a multi-storey 750m2 decant Admin and Allied Health office which will house displaced workers is to be built in the southwest carpark on site. This will enable Mercy Health to continue operations when the existing Admin and Allied Health buildings are demolished. The Contactor will be required to relocate and install equipment from the existing buildings – Allied Health Consult, Admin and south-east section of the Catherine Macauley building to the new Interim Decant office.
Demolition
Demolition and removal of the existing single story Admin. building, allied health services building, areas of existing Northern carpark and the associated accessways at the corner of Hoppers Lane and Princes Highway.
Demolition of the Plant Room located South of the Main Hospital Public Carpark parallel to hoppers lane.
Civil Works
Construction of new main entry drop off and access road whilst keeping the existing drop off operational at all times until new access activated. Works include ultimate drainage and associated electrical connections.
Construction of a new side access road that will be used to access the rear of the site. The current access road is located where the new Emergency Department will be constructed and thus a new road needs to be provided before Main Works can commence.
