Tender Description
Peter Mac’s main site is the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre (VCCC) building in Parkville. The VCCC is a purpose built, multi-tenant facility which combines cancer care, treatment, research and education. Peter Mac operates the VCCC network, supporting Peter Mac and providing local area layer 2 network and telephony services to the building occupants including Honeywell (the Facility Manager), University of Melbourne and Melbourne Health.
The facility features a fully converged IP network and data centre which has been built according to a redundant, high availability design, with a secondary data centre located in Fitzroy. The primary and secondary data centres are connected by dual dark fibre connections. Peter Mac satellite sites at Box Hill, Bendigo, Sunshine and Moorabbin are connected to the Parkville and Fitzroy sites by dedicated, redundant links with locally installed switches, routers and firewall devices.
The scope of Peter Mac’s network infrastructure includes all layer 2 and layer 3 services across the WAN, LAN, WLAN, telephony, videoconferencing, network security and network management infrastructure. At the VCCC, Peter Mac is responsible for the campus network infrastructure that serves tenants such as Melbourne Health and the University of Melbourne as well as the facility manager, Honeywell. The network is largely comprised of Cisco hardware but also features components from a number of other vendors including ATEA and Bridge Communications.
Network Management has been outsourced to Cirrus Networks on a 3 + 3-year term. The contact ends 4th January 2024
