Tinui Forest is a first rotation, Pinus radiata forest situated in the Wairarapa area. As a semi mature forest (19-21 years) it has anticipated annual sequestration of between 2,000 to 2,500 NZUs based on ‘look-up’ tables. This is a straightforward carbon-earning forest in a recognized forestry region, with minimal ongoing costs associated with management and field measurement. There is also a small stand of pines that is not registered in the ETS and could potentially be harvested at maturity.
