Tahakopa Forest is a first rotation Pinus radiata forest, situated in the Tahakopa Valley within the Clutha District. Located approximately 84km east of Invercargill by road, and a cost-effective cart distance from South Port, the land within Tahakopa Valley is primarily utilised for pine and eucalypt plantation forests, which benefit from the higher-than-average rainfall and fertile soils. Tahakopa forest has been carefully managed under a clearwood regime, with pruning and thinning throughout the rotation to produce a valuable tree crop.
Tahakopa Forest has existing registration within the Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) which can be transferred to the incoming purchaser upon the sale of the forest, providing potential benefits and opportunities in the context of carbon credits and emissions trading.
