The WA Government has been working in consultation with the Commonwealth to provide more interim aged care options for older patients awaiting discharge from Western Australian hospitals.
As part of this work, the WA Government committed $2.6 million (GST exclusive) to develop the Residential Respite Pilot trial scheme to support residential aged care facilities to provide temporary respite care for long stay patients awaiting permanent placement. To support the roll-out of the Respite Pilot, WA Government is providing additional payments to residential aged care providers who provide respite care to eligible patients.
To be eligible for the Residential Respite Pilot, the following criteria needs to be met:
An approved residential WA residential age care provider.
An operational accredited residential aged care facility located in Western Australia; and
Have no sanctions issued by the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commissions which restrict admission to the facility.
Interested WA residential aged care providers are invited to apply via a grant application process to join the Respite Pilot trial scheme. The grant is undertaken in accordance with the WA Department of Health Funding Agreement Terms and Conditions.
