The Royal Botanic Gardens Cranbourne (RBGC) requires the construction of a new entrance on the western side of the Cranbourne Gardens site, at the end of Ballarto Road west.

The works entail the construction of a new entrance to RBGC comprising 55m asphalt road integrated into the City of Casey’s Ballarto Road (recently sealed), rework to the connection to Philip Moors Drive (internal entry road) including changes to the bus pull-in, and a new pedestrian track. Road markings and signage, drainage infrastructure, a wildlife underpass, fence, automatic gate, and minor landscaping are also included within the Scope of Works. Traffic management and works planning will be required to ensure that visitors can continue to enter the Royal Botanic Gardens.

The new Western Entry road and pedestrian track are sited within a native conservation zone and there is also a Cultural Heritage Management Plan (CHMP) in place. Site management measures to minimise impact on the surrounding bushland will be required, along with accommodating the conditions set out in the CHMP.
