Customer Service / RE_167 Subcontractor management in construction
Tender ID: 533333
Tender Details
Tender Description
The construction industry has one of the highest rates of workplace injury and fatality in NSW. Reasons for this include the high-risk nature of the work, such as the risk of falls from heights.
The industry also has a high proportion of workers at increased risk of harm (i.e., culturally, linguistically diverse, labour hire, young, and migrant workers) and a high level of subcontracting.
The Centre is seeking targeted research to:
- Characterise the subcontracting practices, relationships, and behaviours in relation to harm prevention in the NSW construction industry
- Identify the causes of unsafe practices, incidents, and harm originating from subcontracting arrangements
- Explore the challenges and drivers of subcontractor compliance with Work Health and Safety Standards, including the use of Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS)
- Examine outreach enablers that can assist promotion and uptake of project outputs
The project will also develop and test solution/s for principals and/or subcontractors to improve safety outcomes in the NSW construction industry.
