The ComNet Redevelopment project establishes an improved service delivery for Comcare’s corporate services through the delivery of a service catalogue (delivered) and the redevelopment of the Comcare intranet (ComNet) leveraging SharePoint technology, including implementing an associated document management repository that allows for collaboration, supported by well-defined content governance practices.

The purpose of this upcoming phase of the project is to provide a trusted centralised source of information for Comcare staff through the improvement of search functionality and currency of content and documentation linked to intranet pages. This project impacts the whole Comcare community and key stakeholders have been involved since the start through stakeholder consultation. Comcare is comprised of six business groups and a senior member of each group is engaged through the project board which governs the project with the project sponsor.

This project is being delivered in phases, two initial phases delivered a governance approach for the intranet, Information Architecture, style guide, branding, content types, templates and wireframes. The internal IT team also developed initial Functional Business Requirements. The development of the SharePoint functionality (intranet and associated knowledge management site) should be built in line with these assets to the extent that the technology allows, minor changes should be applied in consultation with the business owner.

There are two additional intranet sites already built in SharePoint that are satellites of the main site called ComNet. These sites are administered by the Business areas that own them in a decentralized model.

We would like to tie the sites together visually, possibly using “Theme” or “Hub” functionality in consultation with the relevant stakeholders.

ComCare is currently in the process of delivering the CM10 to SharePoint migration project, this project will overhaul how Comcare meets its information management legislative requirements. Although we do not envisage impacts to the ComNet Redevelopment project scope or timeline this project is a dependency that is being monitored to ensure compliance with information management requirements. Technical testing will need to be co-ordinated with the internal Comcare testing team.
