Tender Details
Tender Description
Background
Weipa Mining operations require significant water supply in order to process bauxite at the mines beneficiation plants. In order to meet water requirements a number of Artesian Bores have been installed across East Weipa, Andoom & Amrun. The Artesian Bores were installed in the 1960’s and have an approximate depth of 850 meters each; the bores are free flowing and do not contain internal pumping equipment.
The bore, once drilled is installed with two steel casing strings of varying diameter. The first 254mm casing has been installed to a depth of approximately 150-250 meters followed by the 154mm production casing which runs the remaining bore depth of 700-1000+ meters. Above ground the headworks are installed above a concrete ground slab. This consists of discharge pipework with an isolation valve.
Scope
Rio Tinto requires a service provider to provide artesian bore drilling and maintenance services for Rio Tinto Weipa facilities, including but not limited to drilling, maintenance, technical support, critical parts supply and decommissioning works.
*There is a potential opportunity that the Rio Tinto Gove operations will be added as a location with similar potential works on production/supply bores.
