The Hurunui District Council invites tenders for the Gore Bay and Buxton camping ground situated in the settlement of Gore Bay, approximately 10 minutes’ drive from the North Canterbury township of Cheviot. Gore Bay is a popular surfing, swimming and fishing beach and offers a number of nature walks and picnic areas.

The Buxton camp is situated along Gore Bay Road and offers 19 camping sites, 10 of which are powered caravan sites. Permanent buildings include an ablution block and open kiosk, containing sink for washing dishes, hot and cold water and power points. A children’s playground is located next to the Buxton camp.

The Gore Bay camping ground is situated on Moody Street in the heart of Gore Bay and offers 41 camping sites, 31 of which are powered caravan sites. Permanent buildings include an ablution block, an open kitchen, and laundry facilities. Both camp sites have direct access to the beach.
