The Advanced Training Committee (ATC) in Medical Oncology seeks expressions of Interest from Medical Oncology Fellows to join the ATC as a Paediatric Representative.
Description
The ATC oversees Advanced Training in Medical Oncology in Australia.
The key responsibilities of the ATC are to:
- monitor and assess individual trainee progress in Medical Oncology
- confirm completion of training requirements to progress to Fellowship
- monitor training of, and provide support to, supervisors in Medical Oncology
- accredit Advanced Training sites or programs in Medical Oncology
- assess recognition of prior learning
- monitor and review training program requirements, assessment and curricula in Medical Oncology in consultation with the relevant Specialty Society and other stakeholders, and recommend changes to the College Education Committee, via the Adult Medicine Division Education Committee
- advise on assessment and resource content
- advise on matters relating to Overseas Trained Physicians, as requested
- provide advice on specialty specific CPD and other educational resources for members, as appropriate
- modify training requirements for individual trainees, as appropriate, in accordance with College policies and procedures
- assess and provide advice on specialist recognition in Medical Oncology for Fellows in the Paediatric and Child Health Division or Adult Medicine Division who have not completed the Medical Oncology Advanced Training program.
The role of the Paediatric Representative is to:
- sign off for training approval/certification of Paediatric trainees
- project marking
- Monitoring pediatric Trainees in Support
- review of individual parts of curriculum or assessment for Paediatrics
- attend accreditation site visits/reviews for Adult training settings
- develop Paediatric Site Accreditation Criteria and Site Survey
The following experience will be considered favourably:
- accreditation experience
- current advanced trainee supervisors
- applicants who have attended at least one SPDP workshop
The Committee holds 1 face-to-face meeting in Sydney and 4 video conferences a year.
Members are appointed to the Committee for a 3-year term, with the option to serve up to a maximum of 6 years.
