The Discipline of Pharmacy, established in 2003, with Room 12C40 designed for use as a 'wet and dry' laboratory for pharmacy student practical compounding and dispensing classes. The space was limited to a capacity of 24 students.

In 2009, the MPharm degree underwent external reaccreditation by the Australian Pharmacy Council. The outcomes included a recommendation to build a pharmacy-specific wet laboratory to support increasing number of pharmacy students. A purpose-built laboratory in 27C12 was completed in 2013 however, funds were not available at that time to refurbish 12C40.

A re-fit of the 12C40 space will allow an increase in the number of students per class, expand interprofessional learning activities, increase cost efficiencies by decreasing the total number of tutorials needed and significantly reduce staffing costs long-term.

The intended outcome of this procurement is for UC to ensure our specialist teaching facilities stay up to date, and attractive to students to return to campus. It will also ensure teaching activities are aligned with the new accreditation requirements.
