If you’re a primary producer based in a flood-affected local government area (LGA), you may be eligible for freight subsidy disaster assistance.

The freight subsidy disaster assistance is jointly funded by the Commonwealth and Northern Territory Governments under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.

What you can get

Financial assistance is available to primary producers in the Northern Territory who have been impacted by ex-Cyclone Ellie and flooding (Australian Government reference number 1045).

Financial assistance can be used for transport freight costs associated with:

• moving emergency fodder for livestock
• removal of stock from the impacted area
• replacement of buildings for livestock
• fencing repairs
• machinery and equipment associated with livestock or replace animals lost from the event.

If approved, you can get 50% of emergency freight costs up to the value of $5,000.

Who can apply

Only primary producers in the following flood affected LGAs are eligible to apply:

• West Daly
• Roper Gulf
• Victoria Daly
• Barkly
• Central Desert
• MacDonnell.
