Kerman Contracting Pty Ltd (herein referred to as the “CONTRACTOR”) has reached an agreement with Albemarle Lithium Pty Ltd (herein referred to as the “PRINCIPAL")
Albemarle Lithium Pty Ltd operates a lithium hydroxide plant, and associated infrastructure, within Kemerton Strategic Industrial Area (KSIA), approximately 17 kilometers north-east of Bunbury, western Australia. The Kemerton Plant (KP) is designed to process up to 1.7 million tons per annum of spodumene ore concentrate, sourced from the Talison Greenbushes Operations. The Kemerton facility is approved for up to five processing trains and the associated reagent plant, utilities, and infrastructure.
The Kemerton Expansion Project is Phase 2 of the development of the Kemerton facility. The Kemerton Expansion Project involves adding two additional processing trains (trains 3 and 4) and expanding the reagent and utility infrastructure where necessary, to essentially double the existing plant's production capacity.
The process trains operate using a combination of pyrometallurgical and hydrometallurgical operations to produce a total of up to 100,000 tons of battery grade lithium hydroxide monohydrate (LIOH.H20) (“LHM”) product and up to 200,000 tons of sodium sulphate anhydrous (SSA)) as by-product per year.
Albemarle aims to meet the rising global demand for lithium hydroxide monohydrate whilst delivering a project on time that is capital intensity efficient.
The Sub-contractor is responsible for and is obliged to complete all aspects of the project that relate to the Structural Steel Fabrication, Galvanising and Delivery to Site within the tender/Sub-contract documents listed in the List of Specifications and Drawings (LSD). These responsibilities and obligations include but are not limited to the provision of the following;
1. Supply and fit up of all materials, labour, plant and equipment required to complete the DSW including but not limited to; Structural Steel Fabrication
a) Supply of all structural steel components, platework, etc required to complete the fabrication.
b) Fabricate all structural steelwork including -
- 2160 — Acidified Ore Building
- 2180 — Tailings Building
- 2240 — Sodium Sulphate Storage (SSA)
- 2270 — Lithium Hydroxide Storage
- 2490 — Boiler Shed
- 4430 — MRO Warehouse
c) Complete all NDT.
d) Supply & place metal tags to all items.
e) Hard metal stamp all items including supply and hard stamping of metal tags (to assist in identifying structural steel components after galvanizing).
f) Clean and debur all steelwork.
g) Load all steelwork on to your transport.
h) Supply of all dunnage/gluts for transport.
i) Deliver to a galvanizing yard.
j) complete hot dip galvanizing including all straightening as required.
k) Complete and submit all delivery dockets.
I) Complete all quality documentation and preparation of an MDR for submission to Kerman.
m) Transport to site (Kemerton Plant site)
2. Exclusions
a) Detail drafting.
b) Supply of column shim packers.
c) Supply of crane/EWP to unload galvanized steelwork at site (Kemerton).
d) Supply and delivery of purlins, girts and bridging
e) Supply and dry of structural fasteners
f) Supply and delivery of handrail and floor grating
g) Site erection.
3. Material Supply - All materials shall be of new and unused stock. All steel shall be free from rust, pitting and other defects. All material shall be thoroughly straightened in the shop without injury before being worked in any way. Material that has been split or permanently injured shall not be used.
4. Where quantities have been provided in the tender/contract documents they are for information only. Tenders have been submitted based on the specification, drawings and standard building practice.
5. The Sub-contractor is deemed to have included in its tender/sub-contract price and must ensure that a suitable skilled tradesman and Supervisor are monitoring the Scope of Work, Quality and all Safety requirements at all times.
6. Compliance and participation in the project Quality Assurance requirements as set out in the contract
7.Provision of all Inspection and Testing Records (ITP’s), for fabrication and surface treatment and Manufacturers Data Reports (MDR).
8. Final payment shall be withheld until all Documentation as defined in Contract Deliverables has been received and approved by Kerman.
9. The subcontract to be used for this work is to be standard AS/NZS 4911:2001.
Specific scope requirements will be communicated to suitable Contractors via an Invitation to Tender.
