Tender Description

Peer workers utilise their personal experiences to support individuals in times of crisis, inspire hope and encourage recovery. They play an essential role by offering non-clinical support and strengthening the suicide prevention workforce.

We funded Roses in the Ocean to provide Understanding and Working with Suicide Prevention Peer Workers Training program for two organisations in the Nepean Blue Mountains region that employ or are looking to embed suicide prevention peer workers into their workforce or have employed mental health peer workers.

The training provides the skills and knowledge required for everyone in the organisation to work together and build an inclusive and supportive workplace for Suicide Prevention Peer Workers. The training demystifies suicide prevention peer work, provides new perspectives, builds confidence and cultivates enthusiasm for the contribution that Suicide Prevention Peer Workers will make to your service. Suicide Prevention Peer Workers do not attend this training.

The training is being provided in two parts:

  • Part 1 is a 4-hour training designed for anyone who works in or with your organisation. This includes managers, team members, clinicians, administrative staff, people who make referrals to your service and anyone with a curiosity about suicide prevention peer work.
  • Part 2 is a 2-hour training specifically designed for managers of Suicide Prevention Peer Workers and/or managers of Mental Health Peer Workers. Direct line managers for Peer Workers and other relevant staff in the management hierarchy of your organisation would attend both Part 2 and Part 1.

15 participants can attend the training.

Please register your interest via the online form. Organisations will be selected based on the responses to the Selection Criteria and acceptance of the Terms and Conditions of the training.

For enquiries, contact our Regional Suicide Prevention Coordinator, Josh Stojanovic via email or on 4708 8100.
