The Queensland Mental Health Commission is offering Better Futures Grants up to $250,000 for initiatives that trial innovative approaches and build the evidence base to drive reform of the mental health, alcohol and other drugs, and suicide prevention system.

The Commission is inviting grant proposals that align with the objectives of:

• Shifting minds: The Queensland Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs, and Suicide Prevention Strategic Plan 2023-2028
• Achieving balance: The Queensland Alcohol and Other Drugs Plan 2022-2027
• Every life: The Queensland Suicide Prevention Plan 2019-2029 (Phase Two)

Who should apply?

The grant program is open to non-government organizations, peak bodies, charities and not-for-profit organizations, researchers, academics, universities and research bodies.

Application process

To minimize the overhead cost of compiling an application, the Commission is adopting a two-stage application process, as follows:

• Expressions of Interest – short form grant proposal submitted online
• Full grant application – for proposals shortlisted through the Expression of Interest process.

Timing

• Expressions of Interest open – 12 October 2023
• Expressions of Interest close – 5.00pm Friday 3 November 2023
