The purpose of this early market engagement (EME) process is to assess levels of interest and capacity from freight operators in providing freight services to the remote communities of SWQR and understand how the transport, freight and logistics sectors could assist in reducing the delivered cost of goods to these remote communities.

This EME is expected to identify:

Participant’s capacity to deliver regional road freight services to South West Queensland from 1 January 2024.

The type and size of vehicle that could be used to deliver subsidized freight services and the number of freight services per week that could be provided.

Commercial opportunities to assist in achieving full freight loads on dedicated subsidized freight services, and constraints that may impact this objective.

Ability to work with Councils and retailers to encourage efficient freight ordering and load filling, through engagement and co-ordination.

Indigenous business and local participation in the delivery of road freight services, where possible.

Suggested innovations or improvements to support the procurement objectives.
