Tender ID: 542413
Tender Details
Tender Description
In 2022 the Victorian Government announced the biggest hospital infrastructure project in Australia, with its commitment to the redevelopment and expansion of the Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH) and the Royal Women’s Hospital (the Women’s).
Located in Parkville, the RMH is operated by Melbourne Health (MH) and is the premier quaternary hospital in Victoria and the cornerstone provider of trauma and highly complex acute care in Victoria. Also occupying the site is the Royal Women’s Hospital (the Women’s), Victoria’s flagship women’s and newborn’s hospital. The two hospitals are located within the Melbourne Biomedical Precinct, that also includes the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre (VCCC), the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute (WEHI) of Medical Research, Melbourne Private hospital, the University of Melbourne and the Bio21 Institute of Molecular Science and Biotechnology.
The first project of works in the Parkville Arden Project program is the decommissioning and demolition of the Materials Handling Building (MHB) on the Parkville site. The focus of this scope of works will be on these enabling works as the first step to facilitate the staged redevelopment of the Parkville site.
The scope of this project includes:
- Relocation of site precinct infrastructure from the MHB to other parts of the site with no disruption to service continuity, including but not limited to HV cabling, LV cabling, chilled water pipe work, fire services, communication services, steam supply and boilers, RWH standby generator, natural gas, medical gas reticulation pipework
- New mains gas supply, compressed air plan and heating plant
- Decommissioning of the redundant substation and associated services
- Removal of the decommissioned Co-generation Plant
- Demolition of the MHB and Boiler House
The project will be delivered via a Managing Contractor (MC) Agreement with a detailed Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) stage.
The delivery will be split into three phases:
- Phase A: Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) Services
- Phase B: Early Works
- Phase C: Main Works
The scoping, design, and documentation is anticipated to occur concurrently, with the State design consultants working closely with the ECI contractor to clearly define the scope of works.
This EOI for the Parkville-Arden Project: Materials Handling Building Decommissioning and Demolition project relates only to the decanting, decommissioning and demolition of the Materials Handling Building (MHB). Other stages of the Parkville Arden Project relating to the RMH and RWH redevelopment and expansion will be procured via separate processes.
