Seqwater is the Queensland Bulk Water Authority responsible for delivering safe, secure and cost-effective bulk water supply for more than three million people across South East Queensland (within the Australian state of Queensland). Seqwater owns and operates 26 referable dams (i.e. dams that are regulated under the Queensland Water Supply (Safety and Reliability) Act 2008), including Somerset Dam and Wivenhoe Dam (which is downstream of Somerset Dam). Somerset Dam and Wivenhoe Dam are both operated as dual purpose dams, to perform both water supply and flood mitigation functions.

Somerset Dam and Wivenhoe Dam are the two largest drinking water storages in South East Queensland, together providing 70 per cent of the community’s water needs. To assist with water releases from Somerset Dam, the dam has eight sluice conduits and four regulator conduits. Each of these conduits includes a “high head” internal flow control gate. The gated area for the sluice gates is 2.44 m (8 ft) wide by 3.66 m (12 ft) high and for the regulator gates is 2.74 m (9 ft) wide by 2.74 m (9 ft) high.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Somerset Dam internal flow control gates are reaching the end of their service life and Seqwater intends to replace them. To assist with this gate replacement, Seqwater will be seeking to identify and partner with interested parties who have the capability to undertake detailed design, manufacture and supply of the new gates.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR RESPONDENTS

Interested respondents are advised that a 3-week Expression of Interest (EOI) process will commence from no earlier than 6 November 2023 [Australian Eastern Standard Time, AEST]. The EOI will provide specific information on the procurement process in regards to the subsequent Request For Proposal and expected timelines.

To be considered for the EOI and subsequent procurement activity, interested Respondents will need to complete the attached Registration form and confidentiality agreement and return to SDIPprocurement@seqwater.com.au by 12.00pm Saturday 4 November 2023 [AEST].

No request for extensions will be accepted due to any respondent registering after the commencement of the EOI period.
