The Rebate swap for solar (RSS) offer assists people on low incomes reduce their electricity bills by installing a free, three kilowatt solar systems on their homes and save up to $600 per year in exchange for agreeing to forgo receiving their Low Income Household Rebate (LIHR) for 10 years.
To date, more than 2500 households have benefitted from free solar and reduced bills under this offer. NSW households can check their eligibility and apply at www.energysaver.nsw.gov.au/rebate-swap.
The Rebate swap for solar offer was preceded by the Solar for Low Income Households (SLIH) trial, which commenced in 2019. It was open to homes in select areas of NSW, including the North Coast, Central Coast, Sydney-South, Illawarra-Shoalhaven and South Coast.
