1.1 Project Summary

The Shire of Nannup is seeking the services of a Contractor to develop a Nannup Arts, Recreation, Tourism and Livability (NARTL) Master Plan within Project Area as detailed in Attachment 2. The Master Plan concept will explore all the possibilities that will enhance the arts, recreation, tourism and livability in Nannup within the study area; this could include but not limited to sporting facility upgrades, tourism features, housing options, community facilities, cultural and heritage investment and similar.

The Master Plan will identify demand drivers for population growth, assess the impact of the timber industry decline and diversify the local economy through residential housing growth strategies. It will assess the liveability of Nannup, to attract more residents, visitors, workers and businesses in a sustainable manner and compatible with the aspirations of the community. It will identify future growth strategies such as festival and event attraction through the development of the project area.

The Master Plan will include site assessments for residential expansion, with connectivity and community being the fundamental element. It will include bushfire amenity with strategic access elements for the community.

The Master Plan will support growth and diversity in housing, identify future economic drivers and inform a local transition plan for the timber industry. This could include, but not be limited to, sporting facility upgrades, tourism features, housing options, community facilities or cultural and heritage investment with authenticity and retaining compatibility with and the character of Nannup.
