ANSTO is a corporate Commonwealth entity and Australia’s nuclear research and technology organization. ANSTO is responsible for delivering specialized advice, scientific services and products to government, industry, academia and other research organizations.
One of ANSTO's core missions, as the centre of Australian nuclear expertise, is to manufacture and advance the use of radiopharmaceuticals which will improve the health of Australians. This is undertaken by the ANSTO Health division.
Over the past two years, ANSTO has been working with the Australian Government to find a solution to secure the long-term supply of nuclear medicines for Australia. ANSTO’s nuclear medicine production facility, the Building 23 Facility, is coming to the end of its operational life and has been deemed by regulators and independent experts to be in urgent need of replacement.
On 9 May 2023, the Government announced as part of its FY23/24 budget that it would, “support the resilience of nuclear medicine supply chains through the design and construction of a new, safe and reliable nuclear medicine manufacturing facility and sustainment of existing capabilities.” This new facility will be located at the ANSTO site Lucas Heights, NSW.
The Nuclear Medicine Facility Project comprises the design, construction, and commissioning of the new ANSTO Nuclear Medicine Facility and associated infrastructure including:
a) the design, construction, commissioning of new services and infrastructure; and
b) the decommission of existing services and infrastructure in, on and around the site of the Project and these services include the Inter Pneumatic Transfer System (IPTS), waste transfer, compressed air, electrical, communication and other such services.
This Expression of Interest (EOI) is for engaging an insurance broker who will assist ANSTO Project team in finalizing the insurance strategy and subsequent services. The Supplier must provide advice and recommendation with can be relied upon by ANSTO to ensure value for money for ANSTO.
The Supplier must have the capability and experience to analyze the current Australian and international insurance market, current insurance terms available from Australian and international insurance markets, insurer financial security, and make recommendation to ANSTO.
The Supplier must have the capability and experience to manage the procurement of a suitable insurance policy(s) as well as manage the placement of the policy.
The Supplier must have the capability and experience to provide ANSTO with the required support in the event of a notifiable circumstance or claim.
The Services will be delivered in multiple phases as follows:
1. Phase 1 – broking advisory services,
2. Phase 2 – launch procurement of insurance placements,
3. Phase 3 – insurance placements, and
4. Phase 4 – claims Support
