We are seeking Noongar artists interested in being part of two significant public art projects as part of the METRONET Byford Rail Extension.

The Byford Rail Extension Activation Artworks will be a collaborative design process with Noongar artists working together with Apparatus (Art Consultants), UDLA (Landscape Architecture), the MetCONNX Aboriginal and Community Engagement Teams, and the Local Cultural Advisory Group (LCAG).

The new Activation Artworks will be a Noongar interpretation of culture, grounded in country, an authentic local experience. The project will set new high standards in Aboriginal engagement using best practice protocols and be exemplar in Aboriginal Cultural Advisor and Artist collaboration methodologies.

The project will engage two Noongar artists in the design and delivery of artworks integrated into the landscape design at both the Byford and Armadale station precincts. Each artist will be allocated one of the following opportunities:

Armadale Station Precinct: Design and delivery of integrated artwork applied to three separate components in the station, Station Precinct (Ground Plane Treatment), Station Surrounds (Ground Plane Treatment), and Batten and Baffle Screens.

Byford Station Precinct: Design and delivery of integrated artwork for the Station Precinct (Ground Plane Treatment).

Apparatus will facilitate a program to support the artists through the design and delivery of the artworks. The artists will work closely with the MetCONXX Design Team to develop their concept, resolve the design and will have continued input through the fabrication, installation and close out process.
