Tender Description

The Student Assistance Schemes are a Northern Territory Government initiative aimed at helping NT geographically isolated families whose children need to travel considerable distances to attend school each day, live away from home to attend school, college or university or access distance education.

Geographically isolated families can apply through GrantsNT and may receive financial help with the costs associated with:

  • students having to live away from home to attend a boarding school within the NT or interstate.
  • travelling considerable distances daily to attend the nearest local school.
  • educating a preschool, primary, middle or senior student through a recognised NT distance education program

Geographically isolated locations – The Department of Education (the department) defines geographically isolated as the primary residence is more than 5 km from the nearest school, and in localities defined in Determination 8 of 2015, Remote Locality Provisions pursuant to the Public Sector Employment Management Act 1993.
