Container Exchange (QLD) Ltd (COEX) is seeking parties wishing to operate Containers for Change container refund points (CRP) in the Lockyer and Somerset regions. This will be servicing the communities of Esk, Fernvale, Kilcoy, Lowood and Toogoolawah in the Somerset region and Gatton, Laidley, Forest Hill, Grantham, Helidon, Murphys Creek, Plainland and Withcott in the Lockyer region.

Background

Containers for Change QLD is Queensland’s container refund scheme established by COEX on 1 November 2018 to give people an incentive to collect and return eligible drink containers for a 10-cent refund. In November 2023 the eligible containers were expanded to include glass wine and spirit bottles. The aim is to reduce the amount of drink containers that are littered and increase Queensland’s recycling rate by influencing and enabling all people to participate in the circular economy. COEX works with local stakeholders to provide container recycling solutions that supports the community. We believe there is a better way to recycle that positively impacts individuals, communities, and the environment. Container Refund Point Operator

As a CRP operator, you would play an integral role within Containers for Change. In your region you will provide improved refund point accessibility and a positive experience for customers when they return their containers for a refund.

As a CRP operator you can provide one or more of the collection point solutions below:

• Depot

• Bag Drop

• Pop Up

• Reverse Vending Machine

• Container Collect

CRP operators can make a difference by facilitating recycling and fundraising opportunities in their local communities. Helping to keep containers out of landfill and repurpose them using the Containers for Change circular economy.
