West Coast Council is supporting the establishment of a Cultural Commons as proposed in the West Coast Cultural Strategy. The Commons will be a neutral, incorporated, community-based organization with its own committee and charter. The Commons are not a Council organization, but we are supporting the start-up of this community led group.

To do that we are seeking expressions of interest from those interested in the arts or culture on the West Coast.

Those that join the Commons will need to work together to get the organization set up to support the community to realize the vision in the West Coast Cultural Strategy. This will involve setting up the organizational structure and determining together how the group will work. Council will be supporting with administrative assistance during in the initial phase of the organization and then will be an active member.

Expressions of Interest can take any form and we would love to hear about how you want to contribute to the Cultural Commons, they should be forwarded to West Coast Council, Growth & Change Department. Email: growthandchange@westcoast.tas.gov.au as we plan to host the first meeting of the Commons in early March.
