Adult Male Suicide Prevention Program
Tender ID: 550121
Tender Details
Tender Description
In 2021, the Australian Government announced an increased investment in community-based suicide prevention responses, to be led by local Primary Health Networks nationwide. For the Brisbane South PHN region, this increased investment is in the form of additional funding over 3 years (beginning FY2022-23) for Targeted Regional Initiatives for Suicide Prevention.
While suicide rates are cause for alarm across Australia, Queensland has seen a significant increase in deaths by suicide compared to other states and territories. The Brisbane South PHN region experienced the state's highest number of deaths by suicide between 2019 and 2022. Evidence points to several locations and population groups that are disproportionately affected by suicide, highlighting the need to develop locally-informed and community-based initiatives to respond to this crisis.
Brisbane South PHN is seeking to commission an organisation with experience and expertise in engaging and supporting the target demographic: adult males aged between 25 to 49 years of age.
