Council is offering Agistment of Land – Maxwelton Common for lease to one (1) applicant from 18 March 2024 to 31 October 2024. When applying for this lease, you must adhere to all of the terms and conditions set out below. If at any point you cannot adhere to any of these terms throughout the lease, you must notify Council immediately.
TERMS:
1.Applicant must be a current permanent resident of the Shire and must show proof such as a rates notice, drivers licence or rental agreement.
2.Applicant must be a bona fide owner of the stock to be agisted.
3.Applicant must hold a registered brand in applicant’s name.
4.Applicant must be over eighteen (18) years of age.
5.All cattle must have a NLIS tag in their ear prior to being put on the Maxwelton common. A list of the NLIS tag numbers must be provided to Council with the application to agist and all stock must be read when they are put onto the common and when they are removed.
6.NLIS readings are to be undertaken when stock are added or removed from the commons and at each muster and the information uploaded to the PIC Register and forwarded to the Director of Works
CONDITIONS:
1.A formal lease will be created between Richmond Shire Council and the successful applicant.
2.The approximate area that will be agisted is 1,304 ha (3,220 acres).
3.It is the applicant’s decision as to how many head of cattle they have on the agisted land; however, Council will only accept offers with more than 300 head.
4.The agistment period will expire 31 October 2024. All cattle must be removed on or before this date.
5.Payment is due in advance quarterly (pro-rata).
6.Council reserves the right to accept any submission. The highest bidder will not necessarily be accepted.
7.Council is responsible for general maintenance of fencing, troughs and weed control. However, if the agistees stock damage council assets, the lessee will be charged.
8.Richmond Shire Council reserves the right to terminate the permit, at any time, for any reason.
9.All livestock are to be cleared of ticks prior to being put on the common. Proof of dipping/spraying is required.
10.Notice in writing must be given to the Chief Executive Officer/other delegate at least seven (7) days prior to the removal of any livestock. Such notice must state time and number of livestock to be removed. Failure to give notice will result in Agistment being charged up to the date that advice of livestock removal is given.
