The Café at the Warrnambool Library and Learning Centre located at 8 Kepler St Warrnambool has now become available for lease by business, entities or organisations for commercial purposes. Warrnambool City Council (Council) is seeking expressions of interest for the provision of Café services.
EOIs will be assessed through a selection panel, against a number of criteria aligned with Council’s priority areas, including, customer service, local enterprise, community benefit, financial return/economic benefit and prior experience in café operation.
Submissions are sought that must include the following:
- Indication of rental that would be offered by your proposal to Council for use of the site
- Council in considering your submission would consider this amount in line with current market rental valuations. Any rental amount offered will not be the sole consideration of Council in the final offering of any lease for the premises.
- A detailed summary of any relevant qualifications and experience for the proposed business to be operated.
- Details of previous similar businesses operated including any personal and professional references.
- Primary contacts for the submission authorised to discuss the proposal with Council.
- Community and service benefit offered through the proposal.
The Warrnambool Library and Learning Centre opened in October 2022 and has become the heart of the community as an inclusive, welcoming space to work, learn, play, create and meet.
The joint use public and TAFE library, located on the South West TAFE campus, is operated by the Warrnambool City Council. The 2,500m2 building includes a children’s library, youth area, media lab, meeting rooms, reading and study and gathering spaces, and a café.
The Library has over 14,000 current members and last year had over 200,000 visitors.
Having won numerous design awards and been featured in a number of national magazines, the library attracts visitation from people both visiting and passing through Warrnambool, and library lovers from across the country.
Council is seeking proposals from passionate and enthusiastic food and beverage operators to deliver a pre-made food and beverage service which provides library visitors with a friendly, inclusive and relaxed reason to stay, socialise and belong in the ‘heart’ of the community. We are looking for a business operator that can provide amazing coffee and ensure that the café operations are conducted to the highest standards and in a manner that creates a great reputation as a destination café through great coffee, great service and a friendly welcoming vibe.
It is intended that the Café will operate 6 days a week during library open hours.
- Monday, Tuesday - 9.30am - 5.00pm
- Wednesday – Friday - 9.30am - 6.00pm
- Saturday - 10.00am - 2.00pm
