Interstate Legal Services Panel

The Transport Accident Commission (TAC) is intending to establish an Interstate Legal Services Panel that will provide management of common law claims under the law of the State or Territory in which an accident occurred.

In accordance with the Transport Accident Act 1986 (Vic), the TAC indemnifies the driver (or owner) of a Victorian registered motor vehicle liable for an injury or death caused by (or arising out of the use of) a motor vehicle in Victoria or in another State or Territory.

The services provided by the Panel will enable the TAC to access legal expertise and specialized knowledge in complex common law matters in the relevant jurisdiction, provide representation in litigation, and improve efficiencies and client experience outcomes.

Tender submissions are invited from service providers that are able to:

• Demonstrate capacity and capability to understand TAC client needs
• Be a high performing legal provider with extensive experience and knowledge of CTP in the jurisdiction Tendering for work as well as proven results in this area
• Establish effective working relationships with the TAC staff, being cognizant of the TAC’s code of conduct and the standards expected of a public sector agency with respect to gifts and hospitality
• have operational licences and offices within the states/territories as the common law action is managed in the jurisdictions’
• Act, at all times, in an ethical manner in accordance with both the TAC’s model litigant guidelines, Victorian Government’s model litigant guidelines; and
• Others as noted in the Tender deliverables

About the TAC

The TAC is a government–owned enterprise, established under the Transport Accident Act 1986 (Vic) to reduce the social and financial cost of transport accident injuries to the Victorian community.

We pay for treatment and support services for people injured in transport accidents, promote road safety in Victoria and improve the state’s trauma system.
