Summary of opportunity and Queensland Health's objectives:

In 2020, as part of the Queensland State Election, the Queensland Government committed to delivering three new specialist alcohol and other drug (AOD) residential treatment services – adult services in Bundaberg and Ipswich and a youth service in Cairns (inclusive of residential and non-residential treatment services).

The three new services are a key initiative under Better Care Together: A plan for Queensland’s state-funded mental health, alcohol and other drug services to 2027 to strengthen service capacity and the built environment and improve access to specialist residential rehabilitation and withdrawal management. They also deliver on recommendations of the Mental Health Select Committee’s Inquiry into the opportunities to improve mental health outcomes for Queenslanders.

This Invitation to Offer is for the specialist AOD residential treatment services for adults in Bundaberg only. The other adult service in Ipswich and the Cairns youth service will be managed through separate tender processes.
