Tender Description

Action 3 of the Action Plan commits the Australian Government to fund 1,500 more places in the HAT program to encourage more professionals, such as people who may have trained in other fields, such as STEM, health, trades, hospitality and retail, to switch careers to teaching and trial new ways of attracting and keeping teachers in the schools that need them most.

  • Phase 1: 105 of the 1,500 places are already being delivered through a pilot procured by the Australian Government. This pilot is trialling delivery in primary school settings.
  • Phase 2: Additional HAT program places will be filled through pilots of new/innovative employment-based pathways into teaching, which could be delivered in primary and/or secondary settings in the government and non-government schools’ sectors.
