Tender Description

The South Wairarapa District Council (SWDC) is seeking a provider to manage the repair/painting of the clerestory windows and repairing the clerestory window flashings at the ANZAC Hall, located on the corner of Bell and Birdwood streets, Featherston 5710.

When New Zealand's largest military training camp was established in Featherston in 1916, the settlers of the area showed their appreciation for the soldiers by erecting a social hall known as the ANZAC Club, now known as the ANZAC Hall.

The hall is a large single storey wooden building. Clad in weatherboards of heart totara or matai, the continuous concrete foundation walls around its perimeter have been finished with rough, textured stucco.

The building is a "Category 1" historic place as described by the Historic Places Trust (HPT).

The hall is currently used for civic facilities, recreation, memorials and particular community events throughout the year.

The repair of the clerestory windows/flashing/painting at the ANZAC Hall aligns with the strategic drivers outlined in the Long-Term Plan.

The chosen lead provider will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation to repair the clerestory windows, prep/painting of the clerestory windows and repair of the window flashing of South Wairarapa's historic buildings that remains an expressive reminder of Featherston's intriguing history.
