Tender Description

Byron Shire Council (BSC) owns and operates one centralized waste management facility for the Shire, the Byron Resource Recovery Centre (BRRC), located in Myocum NSW. Council has identified that the existing on-site leachate storage infrastructure is approaching end of life and requires replacement. Detailed design of upgrades to site leachate infrastructure has been finalized.

A summary of the scope of works for the Project includes the construction (supply, install and decommission) of:

• Preliminaries Management Plans – Workplace Health and Safety, Construction and Environmental, Quality and Traffic.

• Removal, cleaning and disposal of existing Leachate Storage 1 (LS1) and Leachate Storage 2 (LS2) assets including storage tanks, pipework, fittings, bunds and associated equipment.

• Supply, installation and construction of new LS1 and LS2 leachate storage areas including:

  •  Earthworks
  •  LLDPE liner and geotextile
  •  PE leachate storage tanks
  •  PE settling tanks with concrete plinths
  •  Pipework and fittings
  •  Concrete block bund walls
  •  LS2 tanker fill bay
  •  Pneumatic systems
  •  Instrumentation and controls

• Staged construction of the above works to retain required available on-site leachate storage volumes during construction.

• Quality assurance, commissioning, and proof of performance testing

• Work-as-Executed (WAE) documentation

• All other works detailed in the Detailed Design and Technical Specification.

This project is required to be delivered this calendar year (2024) during the expected dry period, before future inclement weather events can affect the site’s deteriorated stormwater management system.
