Armidale Regional Council is inviting submissions from qualified and experienced respondents to supply retail electricity to all large and small council sites. Council encourages respondents to put forward novel approaches such as virtual mechanisms and increasing Distributed Energy Resources (DER) at Council facilities. Each approach must align with the Council's strategic goal of advancing renewable energy generation and consumption within the LGA

Background information / Compatibility requirements

ARC is looking to create a select group of respondents which would then be asked to respond to a Request for Tender based on the identified preferred model.

1. Identify an immediate retailer: Agree a suitable approach and price in the immediate term for electricity supplied to Council operated sites and potentially the wider community.

2. Inform design and decision making around a preferred approach: Provide working examples and suggestions that can be modelled for ARC to develop a preferred approach to increased renewable energy generation/consumption over time.

3. Test appetite and commitment to flexible agreements: Understand the degree to which market Participants may wish to partner or collaborate with Council.

4. Carbon reduction through renewable energy generation/consumption: To phase out ‘black’ energy supply so that all ARC sites are effectively 100% supplied with renewable energy generated by ARC (eventually).

5. Identity and reputation: Establish an agreement and working relationship that supports and enhances ARC’s reputation as a progressive organisation and leader in the community
