Norfolk Island Regional Council - Tender: Manage and Operate Community Resource Recovery Centre
Tender ID: 560685
Tender Details
Tender Description
Norfolk Island Regional Council (Council) is responsible for the Waste Management on Norfolk Island. The island does not operate a landfill resulting in the need for practices that minimise, reduce and reuse waste where possible.
Recent investigations and modelling of waste generation and minimisation on Norfolk Island identified it is possible to divert 2.5% of the total waste tonnage though a Community Resource Recovery Centre, equivalent to approximately 93 tonnes of material per year. The waste diversion would be drawn largely from the following waste streams:
(a) Metals – kitchenware, drums, pipes, car parts, bicycles;
(b) Building materials – doors, windows, timber and metal offcuts;
(c) Plastics – kitchenware, toys, pipes, furniture; and
(d) Household goods – rugs, ceramics, paintings, furniture, clothing, textiles, books.
Council is in the process of constructing the Community Resource Recovery Centre scheduled for completion by the end of 2024.
Council is seeking to engage an organisation to manage and operate the Community Resource Recovery Centre via this Invitation to Tender process.
This Invitation to Tender is being managed by Peak Services on behalf of Norfolk Island Regional Council.
