We are seeking expressions of interest for a third-party event operator to bring Z Ward to life with public programs and private functions.

About the Property:

As a significant heritage site Z Ward offers a unique backdrop for cultural, educational, and community events.

Z Ward operated between 1885 and 1973, an institutional complex designed specifically for the care of the criminally insane. It reflects the 19th century attitude of isolation and imprisonment as a response to mental illness.

Features of the property include:

• Large open outdoor space
• Upstairs and downstairs toilets
• Storage for event equipment
• Off-street parking
• Security system

The ideal event operator will:

Plan and execute a program of events across seven days, including but not limited to:

– Public ticketed events

– Private hire for functions

– Indoor & outdoor events

• Coordinate all logistical aspects of events, including venue setup, equipment rentals, catering, and vendor management, ensuring seamless execution on event days.
• Ensure all events comply with relevant health, safety, and accessibility regulations, maintaining a safe environment for attendees and staff.
• Collaborate with National Trust staff to promote events effectively through various channels, including social media, email campaigns, and partnerships with local communities and organisations.
• Maintain appropriate food service, alcohol and other licences for events
• Have and maintain appropriate public liability insurance
• Provide and maintain their own serving ware, event furniture and decorations

The National Trust has ultimate responsibility for the property, including maintenance, power and water. Upgrades to amenities will be considered in line with revenue targets.

Profit Sharing:

The National Trust is open to annual or per event fee.
