In November 2022, Bendigo Kangan Institute (BKI) was allocated funding from the Minister for Training and Skills for and on behalf of the State of Victoria represented by the Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions for the delivery of the Hume Tech School at Kangan Institute’s Broadmeadows campus at 59 – 69 Pearcedale Parade, Broadmeadows Victoria, 3047. The funding will be used to construct a new single-storey Tech school delivering a number of STEM related functions. The potential area of work is approximately 1,145 sqm.

The functional areas are designed to deliver Design + ideate GPCs, simulation labs, multi-purpose atrium, presentation space, sound/audio booths, staff administration, student breakout, fabrication labs, prayer & wellbeing room, end-of-trip facilities including associate external works and services.

The building will showcase an innovative, shared learning environment that is high-tech, industry-linked and focused on integrating the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics [STEM] with key future growth industries.

The Hume Tech School building shall be delivered with consideration of future stages within the Broadmeadows Campus Masterplan and is intended to be operational by Term 3 2026.

The Hume Tech School will expand Bendigo Kangan Institute’s offering at its Kangan Institute’s Broadmeadows campus whilst leveraging its experience as an award-winning training provider focused on student and industry outcomes. Bendigo Kangan Institute view capital works projects as opportunities to expand beyond just creating training facilities, to delivering strong social and employment outcomes through the procurement process.

Bendigo Kanagan Institute has engaged Brand Architects as the Principal Design Consultant (PDC) in December 2023. The PDC tender documents (drawings and schedules) for the construction works will be completed in late 2024. The Request for Tender for these works is schedule to be released in the first quarter of 2025 as a Design & Construct (D&C) engagement.

BKI invites appropriately qualified Contractors (Respondents) to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) for the D&C – Main Works Contractor services for the Project as described within this document.

The purpose of this EOI process is to assess the experience, capability, capacity and commitment of Respondents to deliver the Project, seeking to shortlist Respondents to then be invited to participate in the Request for Tender (RFT) procurement stage.
